Why am I running for School Board
Probably because I'm more than a little bit nuts. Serving on the school
board is a lot of work which is generally rewarded only with a long litany
complaints from members of the community. Still, its a job that needs to
be done. Many people have asked me to run for school board over the years.
Most often this has followed a speech I've made at a board meeting in support
of instrumental music, our libraries, our sports and other after school
activities, the districts need to serve our best and brightest students,
or the desirability of continuing our 200 year tradition of running our
own public schools rather than farming it out to private companies. More
recently, as I've served on district committees, these requests have accelerated
and I've become convinced I could do a good job as a district trustee.
Fundamentally, that's why I'm running. I think I can do a good job.
I bring no special agendas to the table. I don't intend to run for any
other office. I don't have an axe to grind when it comes to budgets, taxes,
educational methods, tenure, or other district issues. I simply want to
help insure that our children receive the best education we can reasonably
give them.
Thanks, in advance, for your support. |
